Our Story


This project, done in collaboration with A*STAR’s Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS), aimed to efficiently create pure liver cells from human embryonic stem cells (hESCS). As hESCs can give rise to more than 200 distinct cell types, the project focused on identifying the signaling proteins “instructing” the formation of liver. The liver cells created may be useful in the future for functional drug testing and cell therapy.
